CDL Instructor: Class A & B

Pay: $28 per hour
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Schedule: Flexible (morning, day, and evening shifts available)
Home every night & Weekends off

New Sound CDL is looking for experienced CDL Class A drivers who want a steady, local role where they can stay close to home while helping develop new professional drivers.

This role is centered around hands-on training and mentoring. Instructors work directly with students in the classroom, training yard, and on the road to build real-world driving skills and prepare them for the CDL Skills Test.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide classroom, yard, and road instruction
  • Teach pre-trip inspections, backing skills, and road driving techniques
  • Help students prepare for CDL testing and real-world driving
  • Track progress and evaluate student performance using training tools and checklists
  • Support students through a structured, step-by-step learning process

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 2 years of CDL driving experience
  • Valid Washington State Class A CDL
  • Clean, safe driving record
  • Ability to pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening
  • Comfortable operating both manual and automatic transmission trucks
  • Strong communication and leadership ability
  • Basic computer skills for tracking student progress and schedules

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Prior instructor, coaching, or mentoring experience
  • Familiarity with FMCSA and Washington CDL regulations
